PSG Overcomes Marseille on Penalties to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious cup on 14 separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions victory.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the match featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the French Cup holders after the French winger found the scoring early on.

However, the southern French side struck twice in the closing moments to take a shock advantage. Initially, the English forward converted from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial leveler in the dying seconds to force the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, stopping decisive kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 penalty victory.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the last thirteen years.
